Sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldnt find anything conclusive.

Is it possible to have continuous recording, at say 1fps, but when motion is detected witch to say 15fps?

Thanks

depending of camera brand ... nvr ...

on most cams you have multiple Stream MAIN / SUB1 / SUB2 etc...
on axis cams you can create your own Stream on professionnal NVR you can create your own resolution etc...
You can configure each Stream with a number of fps / each
1 fps for continuous is not enough for me 4fps is better and 12 for alarm for example.
With H264 or H265 you can record H24 in full resolution with 20 fps its not a problem for example
i have a place with 4 dahuas cams ( 1920 X 1080 resolution ) i record H24 on these 4 cams with H264 and 20 fps.
I have 4 Tb WD purple HDD storage , and with this 1 full month of recording ... !

You can but its not efficient as you lose direct to disk Triggered + periodic each + direct-to-disc time lapse not working
you are much better off cloning the cameras and simply recording the substream continuously at a low bitrate. The fps does not dictate storage capacity, its the bitrate.
