Bomb damage isn't the story, CNN/NYT isnt the story. The leaker isn;t the story.
The story is that for 4 days now, the Administration has saturated TV and Social Media with the narrative that Iran's nuclear capability was "obliterated". That the bombs we dropped (not a war just a little bomb drop) did untold damage to the site and that it set Iran back years in their development of a nuclear bomb. (leaving aside that that wasnt the reason Israel struck them to begin with). You can't turn on a TV or talk radio or login to X and avoid being delivered "the message"
The White House, CIA, SecDef, countless officials, even the useless GOP Congress got in the act and have worn themselves out the past 4+ days making sure EVERYONE gets the message. Iran and Israel were even pressured into issuing their own public statements about how the Big Beautiful Bombs had scored a direct hit and Iran can't possibly recover. CNN/NYT and anyone who even questioned how it went were trashed by large well coordinated bot armies and "Influencers" and the President directly as "fake news" peddlers, treasonous!
Great, lets assume the bombs worked.
CNN reported factual information, (the report itself hasn't been denied in fact it was confirmed day #1 by the WH), in theory leaked to them by someone on the inside who now has the FBI/CIA and every other 3 letter agency tracking them down and throwing around the word "Traitor". The Administration has gone positively apeshit over "the leak". The report said essentially, maybe it worked maybe not as much as we'd have liked, hard to say at this time. Almost immediately the talking points went out. The WH and everyone with a US flag lapel pin in DC sang in unison that the report was WRONG!.
OK lets assume the report was wrong
Now tomorrow morning the SecDef is having a televised 8am presser, presumably to show off cool hi tech satellite photos and other "intel" to prove and sear into everyone's head that the strike was successful, and likely so complex that divine intervention must have been involved.
Doesn't all of this selling the success of the strike seem a bit overwhelming? A bit over the top? Why the need to go to such lengths to hammer it into the ground when you've already been praised by everyone from the drunk on the street corner to the heads of NATO nations?
You got, presumably, a "peace deal" out of it as you desired. The calls and emails to the Nobel committee are overflowing their switchboard surely.
I mean if you're confident you're right even if there are those who say differently, as the President of the US and senior cabinet officials, why are you so consumed with making sure everyone KNOWS and ADMITS you're right?
It just seems weird and a bit Orwellian
