Updated BI, Drive over Quota

I've been running BI for years without having a single storage issue. I updated yesterday TO 5.9.9.9. This morning, I find that there is a "Drive Over Quote" message. My "new" folder which was set to 300GB had 360GB in it. I went back to 5.9.9.7 and ran maintenance and repair/regenerate on the database and it started removing the extra data from the folder? The folder got smaller and smaller over a period of 10 minutes, at the time of typing this, the folder is below 300GB like it should have been.

What happened? Was this a bug in 5.9.9.9 or something else I should be aware of?

Excerpt from below:

1) Do not use time (limit clip age)to determine when BI video files are moved or deleted, only use space. Using time wastes disk space.
2) If New and stored are on the same disk drive do not used stored, set the stored size to zero, set the new folder to delete, not move. All it does is waste CPU time and increase the number of disk writes. You can leave the stored folder on the drive just do not use it.

I suggest you follow the rest of this as well, from @SouthernYankee :

Thanks, I set this up once a long time ago and haven't looked at it since. I've got some issues I believe.. There are several items I needed to correct - I disabled the time limit completely and decreased the Combine or Cut Video time/size.

I have 3 drives currently. C is my SSD BI install, D is a 1TB storage drive, and E is a 4TB storage drive.

Continuous recording is going to "New" which is on my C drive and then it gets moved over to E after 300GB. <- I think this is a problem.

Alerts go to D and are deleted after 400GB which doesn't make any sense, it's a 1TB drive.

Suggestions on how to correct this? I think I need my continuous recording to go to the 4TB drive directly and delete on overflow. I'm not sure what to do with Alerts, though.
