Uniview VS Dahua

What is your opinion?

Dahua and Hikvision OEM seem to be the dominant ones I have seen members discuss ..

Of course, with Blue Iris VMS on a windows PC you can use any that meet the ONVIF specs ..

This forum is dominated by Dahua users - so You will get reply that Dahua :)

Uniview is smaller company comparing to HIK/Dahua.. it has smaller product and technology portfolio comparing to this companies..
It gained importance in recent years in the USA, where NDAA restrictions very affected Dahua/Hik.
It is very little known in Europe

I support both products in my line of work. Uniview is not bad, very little failure rate. Feature wise, Dahua wins all day. Uniview is good if you dont have a huge budget

Hi,

I went to a camera store today nearby and they pitched Uniview. I mentioned I was looking for an 8MP camera and from what I read on this forum the recommended sensor size for this type of camera was 1/1.2". They said Uniview had an IR camera with 1/1.2" sensor but I can't find it on the web. Can you confirm this exists?

Also, I am leaning towards the Dahua (empiretech's version of it). Specifically, the 8mp 1/1.2 turret camera. My property is not large (1/3 acre) on Long Island so there is ambient light from street lights, etc.

Thanks

wow - fast reply! I didnt even get to finish the other thread in the newbie forum before you responded. Thanks!

I'm leaning towards Andy's cameras honestly. The problem is I need someone to install it for me. I'm on Long Island so if anyone knows someone who can install it please feel free to recommend some vendors! So far only finding those who will sell me the equipment they sell (understandably) but it seems inferior.
