Touchscreen to Show Live Camera Feeds

Today, I saw a house that had these touchscreens that allowed you to view security camera feeds. The system was by Control4. While I like what that system allows you to do, I don't necessarily want to buy something that only a dealer can install and maintain.

Does anyone know of a similar solution that will have instant access to my cameras? Even the IDMSS app is a bit too slow when someone knocks on my door. By the time I get the feed going the person is gone.

Thanks!

I should have mentioned, I wanted to mount the touch screens in a few places in my home so the rest of the family can just view the cameras from the touchscreen (looks like an ipad).

So why don’t you use an iPad? This is the way I use it at my home.
I also had an alternative with a 23” touchscreen connected to a pc running SmartPSS.

Or buy a cheaper tablet with a wall mount, that's what I'm planning on doing.

Or a cheap, used iPad, if you prefer Apple. Only iOS 8 is needed for iDMSS HD. I use an “old” iPad Air 2. But even older ones will work. So you should get a working one for about 100-150 bugs.

Of course you could also beam the video signal from your (hopefully you have one) NVR to your (hopefully you have some) TVs all around in your house. That’s what I’m doing primarily. The iPad is only an addition for the upper hallway, because there’s no tv socket

What did you use to beam the signal? Or was it just rtsp link?

I don’t know where you reside. I live in Europe and used an HDMI Modulator which gives me a 1080p signal with DVB-T. I feed this into my Multiswitch and have the signal at every tv socket. Only a tv with build in receiver and h.264 capability is needed.
I know in the USA there is another type of broadcast, but I assume it should be a modulator available over there too.
Depending on the quality of the modulator you have a little delay. My constellation needs about 1.2 seconds to modulate HDMI to antenna signal and decode at tv. For normal live view I’m ok with that delay.

interesting solution. Here in the US, we have ATSC broadcast TV, so that's what the TV's decode from their antenna inputs.
This sort of thing could work for that, I think: https://www.amazon.com/-/dp/B01NAYLBNK

Thanks for your advice, everyone. I do have the NVR to TV via HDMI solution already. However, I was visiting someone's house that had the touch screens that is much easier to use and preferred to having a big TV on all the time. I asked the person how it worked and they pointed to a control4 server.

Any idea how I can elegantly get the signal from my NVR to a touchscreen. I'll also have to find some way of powering that touch screen. The older ipad + IDMSS might be an option, but I was hoping for a wired solution. I'm just not sure how that would work with an ipad.

Until my last tests my 23” touchscreen wasn’t supported by the NVR for any input. I use that screen with two inputs, one for the NVR and one for a windows pc with touch. Using SmartPSS there works well with touch, but of course the iPad is the less power consuming solution. It’s also flexible to use it for my home automation as well. And if needed I can pop it out of the wall mount in just a second and can use it for what ever.
If you want it wired, maybe something like this might work: https://www.amazon.com/Ethernet-Net...ning+Ethernet&qid=1552079861&s=gateway&sr=8-5
