This applies to HikVision cameras but even more so to HikVision NVRs.
You can examine and change settings on a HikVision camera by connecting to it's web server directly over port 80 or installing the iVMS-4200 application on your PC and doing it that way.
The question is, does the PC application read the camera settings or just keep its own copy and overwrite them?
The same thing applies to the NVR. You can use web access, or the embedded app that runs on the NVR, or iVMS-4200. In this case, if I set up the email using the embedded app, then when I go into the PC application, the settings are blank.
