Test trigger on main screen not working

I was under the impression that the trigger icon on the main deasktop would set the trigger off to see if it performs as needed, but when I click it, it just records.
I can get the trigger to work on the "on-alert", and "on-rest" seperatly, but would like to see it run all the way from start to finish.

Can this be done ?, or am I missing something ?

When a camera window is selected by clicking on it and then the lightning bolt at upper left is clicked, the selected camera records. This is confirmed in BI's "Help" file.

The lightning bolt in the "On Alert" and "On Reset" is to TEST a configured alert.
