I've tried to explain that wide angle lenses are not always best for security cameras but after seeing a Ring cam with it's 150° view my father wants to set up something similar. He is currently using an HikVision cam with a field of view of 98° but wants something wider for his next camera. Are there any super wide angle outdoor IP POE cameras that are compatible with BI?

If the camera can deliver a RTSP stream then its compatible with BI. I just don't know of any model that deliver 150 degrees of Horizontal viewing. I'd guess they exist simply for the fact they would be good for indoor surveillance.
There are plenty of fisheye cameras. Here's the one I went with for an overview in front of my garage.
