Hello all,

I've been reading a lot of posts here and I have to say I'm overwhelmed. I live in the Los Angeles area of California. We get house break ins, car break ins, and car theft in the area. I would like some cameras but I'm having a tough time choosing. I'd like to cover the driveway and street in front of the house. The driveway is 15.5 feet long from the house to the sidewalk. The distance from house to curb is about 22 feet. The distance from house to where cars would be driving is about 29 feet. The width of coverage is about 100 feet. Since the front of the house is so close to the sidewalk and street those big box cameras wouldn't look to good.
I would also like to be able to see peoples faces clear enough at night to identify instead of seeing a gray block with glowing eyes. I already have my i7 PC with blue iris.

Thanks for any help

This seem to me to be a job for the "5 MegaGixel Low Light Destroyer" (tm). Short distances, good at night, lots of detail, and small-ish. https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php/6964-5-MegaGixel-1-1-8-quot-low-light-destroyer-for-90

There's no layout to go by, but at a wild guess three cams ought to do it half decently. If there's a door in the middle-ish, then one at the door pointing probably straight out, then one maybe 25' away from the door on each side pointing at an angle away from the door. No idea if there's a driveway to protect but if there is then stick one in each driveway as well. I'll attach a hideously angled trio of triangles to show what I mean. Each one is very roughly the 71 degrees that a Longse 5mp with the default 5mm lens will show. The left triangle is especially out of rotation but it should be clear what I mean.

If there's a decent budget then something like a few Hikvision 4526FWD-IZ domes would be excellent but you can buy a number of the cheap Longse cams for one Darkfighter dome.
