sub/main stream out locally still viewable remotely

I have generic brand IP cameras plugged into a generic NVR. One of my channels is not streaming a main stream or substream. Yet, I can view the live image without a problem remotely. I could reset the box and would fix the issue, but that doesn't explain what happened. Could anybody shine some light on what may have happened? Thank you
