I’ve received most of the start up pieces of my system; tiny PC, PoE switch, a couple of cameras to test with from Andy. I’m trying to get initial communication with the cams and I’m pulling out my hair.
First: I’ve read all the Wiki and Cliffs notes and the “standard start up pages”, but clearly, I didn’t retain all the details.
My issue is right at the initial point of trying to get the cams initialized, ips changed. Before even going into BI.
Dahua cams.
Researching threads here, I found info that I needed to change my PC’s ip as it was defaulted to 192.168.0.1.
After that point I successfully connected to the 5442T-ZE. Before that point I had been trying with a couple of IPC-HW1831EPs and it seems as it I may have messed them up.
So, I guess that my first issue is, how do I reset these 1831s, which apparently do NOT have a reset switch? The booklet shows a removable cover where the SD card and the button should lurk, on some models but there is no panel like that on these.
After several attempts using Dahua's config.exe I changed the ip of the PC to get on the same segment as the Dahua default; despite this change there was no joy so I gave up on the 1831s.
I got the 5442TZE out of its box and the web approach worked. Now to get the bullets working! Any ideas?
Next question:
My PC was 192.168.0.1
Which I changed... but my Switch a V7 24PoE shows 193.168.0.178
Do I need to also change the op of the switch somehow (temporarily) to help with cam setup?
