Does anyone know what this "Stream Smooth" setting does?

I tried googling for it, and I get mostly info regarding substreams. It appears configured with a default value of 10. AFAIK it's a newer feature, or at least I don't remember seeing it until I recently upgraded firmware on all my cameras (now 4 out of 6 of my dahua cameras now have this setting). The camera page shown is from my Hdw5231rp-z (dahua 2mp varifocal turret). I tried playing with it, but could not observe a noticeable difference. So I figured I'd run it across here first, before I simply ignore it going forward.
FWIW, my BI setup has no apparent lag, stutter, or any other issues with any of my cameras... everything is buttery smooth and fast as is. So not trying to troubleshoot, just learn.
