Still having false positives with IVS triggers

Here's a good example of a false trigger I get from my 5442s. This happens on more than one camera that has a field of view that includes tree shadows.


Here are my IVS settings for this camera. The camera log doesn't help because when I filter on "Events", none show. Any thoughts or tips? Thanks!

Double check that regular motion in the cam hasn't turned on. Happens sometimes with BI.

IVS person and vehicle false positives

Recently I’ve begun testing the IVS Event trigger capabilities of my 5442 cameras. I’ve noticed false positives for Motion triggers when no vehicle or person OSS present. Is this pretty common?

Is this video from BI - Do you have BI motion turned on or MD in the camera turned on and these are not IVS triggers? Sometimes BI turns on camera MD and we have to a "hack" so it doesn't impact triggers.

Do you have an SD card in the camera? If not it won't show logs.

If you have an SD card in the camera, then do a playback with IVS rules on to see what is triggering.

I suspect it isn't IVS triggering but BI motion or MD in the camera, especially if you did what I suggested in your other thread where I have basically an identical field of view and shadows.

Thanks for the reply. Video Detection and Smart Motion Detection are not enabled. I failed to mention that I also have done the Global Setup.

After doing the global config, did you do a verification of the measurements by drawing a line and was it close to the actual length?

Have you tried dropping sensitivity down. As I mentioned in your other thread, this is a tight field of view and you are not trying to do too much, so sensitivity could be dropped. Try 3 or 4.

After all that and you have confirmed the BI motion isn't on and that BI hasn't turned on MD or SMD, the next solution would be to have someone stand at the far right corner of the IVS rule and draw a min size object around that person and that should hopefully knock them out.

If Video detection and BI's motion sensing both are turned off, maybe try the ONVIF Device Manager to see what's triggering. Or stick a card in the cam.

I did do a verification and it was very close to 1M, like 1.2M. I've set the Tripwire and Intrusion to 3 and also the Global Sensitivity. Motion sensor is not selected in BI for this camera, only ONVIF.

I don't have a card, I wish it showed "Events" in the camera log.

There isn't enough memory in the camera to record the log or at least anything other than basic log. It needs an SD card for that.

I have been running IVS on my 5442 for 5 months now and I have only had 2 false triggers that I can recall. Both were a magpie (bird) on my lawn that was mistaken for a human. I use a large intrusion box that covers nearly my whole view and tripwire zigzag across the whole view as well. Not very scientific but it is 99% perfect for my use. The only thing it sometimes does not pick up is people wearing dark clothes at night and dark coloured cars driving by fast also at night.

My sensitivity is set to maximum (9?)

Once connected to the camera, look under Events. You should see when things are triggered and it will give an IVS rule number.
