A steel beam had to be installed in front of the bridge to prevent further compromise to the structural integrity of the bridge (especially at the bridge's girders)

was there when I lived there in 1991. They acutally just RAISED it a couple inches last year. People used to hit it a lot more. Watch his enitire youtube channel during this quarantine if you want to see how stupid people can remain to be. Crazyist thing is that most that hit the bridge, are Durham residents who have went under it for years in their own cars and even know this is infamous for eating box trucks. They call it "the canopener"

had something similar when I was in Houston.
A shortcut between warehouses where a 13'-6" truck could just barely fit through if you went slow - - - then they paved an overlay on the road.
When the trucks had a full load on, they still slid through, but once empty - well, a few looked like that video.
