I'm using Smart PSS (v 2.003) on Windows 11. I'm using it to view my cams remotely. What i dont understand is why the Main Stream and Sub Stream 1 don't respect the settings i've established under Encode for each camera.

Each cam encode is set to:
Main Stream: 2688 x 1520, H.264, CBR, 15 fps, 8192 Kbps
Sub Stream: 704x480, H.264, CBR, 10 fps, 512 Kbps

But Smart PSS stream reports:
Main Stream: 99856 Kbps
Sub Stream: 2982 Kbps

Yes, the streams take forever to begin and even then they hiccup horribly to the point i'm staring at single frames for several minutes.

Just wondering if this is all normal behaviour for Smart PSS. FTR, the internet at the property is 15Mbps Down / 10 Mbps Up.
Smart PSS connects to the NVR not the Cams directly.

Cams:
Dahua IPC-HDW5442T-ZE
Dahua IPC-HDW5442TM-ASE-S3
Dahua IPC-HFW5442E-Z4E

NVR
Dahua NVR5208-8P-4KS2E

My smartPss is reporting the bit rates pretty close to the camera settings. Version is 2.003.0000004.1, NVR 5216-4ks2, most cameras are 5442TM-AS. Windows 7. I don't have the sluggishness you're seeing. My only major smartPss complaint is its random crashes, usually after heavy access to recorded video.

If there's an alternate app with better stability and control I'm open to switching. I figure everyone will say Blue Iris and VPN?

@tigerwillow1 Is ok when you use SmartPSS locally, or remotely ? In the second case, how many bandwidth do you have, in upload ?

I'm using smartPss locally. I've tried it remotely in the past via P2P, and it sucked. Sorry I can't be any more specific than that. My upload speed is in the 1 to 2 Mbps ballpark. For remote access now I run smartPss locally on a dedicated mini PC, then remote into that using Team Viewer. This works great and I keep smartPss via P2P available as a backup, which I've not needed to use yet.

Its the remote thing, it will bounce around quite a bit. Its a connection thing, going through OpenVPN it can get wild, but usually settles down after a while. Go direct and you'll see its fine.

Mine usually settles down after a minute,

Remote
Substream -1024
Main stream 10,240
