Should I remove my front gate?

When I bought the house it had a gate that was much more flimsy and looked bad, and the front door had a big pane of glass and was not very strong overall so the gate was really needed IMO
When I replaced my driveway gate I got the same place to do the front gate, and it was pretty cheap because they were already coming out
Since then I've replaced the front door, and installed the screen door
Sadly very hard, the hinges are welded into the frame, I'd probably just cut out the entire thing but leave the section the mailbox is mounted to
I've seen so many movies where perps are attacking and as the victim is trying to unlock the doors, they drop the keys. If you had a remote on the gate, you could get in and if you even drop the keys, you would be safe. Unless of course firearms were involved! That was never covered in the movies!
I never ever use the front door to enter my house, I always use my automatic driveway gate and the back door

How about cutting 2 bars out of the lower portion so an Amazon package could slip thru at the bottom....then they cant reach the lock mech. and you wont have stuff sitting in the rain.
The only problem I see with this suggestion is expecting the Amazon drivers to exert any extra time or effort beyond the absolute minimum, aka: an expectation of common sense being applied, which in my experience has been quite rare.

In all seriousness, it will look better without. IT just depends on your neighbourhood which only you know. As I posted previously on here it is possible to get some very high security "oridnary" doors with ultra strong multipoint shoot bolts, steel reinforcement of the panels etc. In the UK this is one of the companies (below), you'd have to find out someone in the US. Advantage of these is they look normal.
You can also buy window films that make it difficult to get through windows as when you break the glass they act like the films in car windshield glass and hold it together, making it impossible / buying time. Theseare relatively cheap and DIY. You clean the window then strick it on the outside. However, all security measures are a double edge sword. Get trapped in a fire & it slows the firebrigade down entering your home & rescuing you, or you getting out if for some reason you can't open the door.
These are the UK doors, they come in various levels of protection from Grade 3-6 I believe. Anything below rating 3 is pretty normal, with a normal door 1-2, high security residential a 3. The higher the rating, the harder /longer it takes ot get through even with tools such as Stihl saws in the highest grades.

All things considered I would keep it.
- You can't go wrong having too much security.
- Having to get past it is not annoying you since you use the other door.
- Removing it will cost money, you are buying new deadbolts, but surely you could leave that gate as it? Even if the bolt is poor, that's more security than no gate!
- I don't think it looks all that bad, but thats just me - I have to be careful otherwise my house would end up looking like a factory or industrial plant!

@Flintstone61 i like reading other’s replies. Neighbor had several packages delivered while out of town and they sat outside his gate. Removing a couple of bars and building a hinged package door would have helped there. If some other square tube were welded perpendicular to the gate, they could push the package just out of reach for someone to grab. There would be a driver learning curve though.
