Is a particular crimp tool required or will a tool for regular Cat 5 connectors work with these connectors?
Standard, ratcheting crimp tool for the RJ-45 like in the IPCT store here.

For the shield, if solid I double it once, thread into the collar for the shield and crimp with a ferrule crimper like below. If the shield is braided, I partially un-braid some, pull it around, twist it and feed into the collar and crimp it with the ferrule crimper. Before I found the ferrule crimper I would just flatten it with needle-nosed pliers but then solder it. It was ugly and mechanically and electrically sound but soldering was VERY troublesome. The ferrule crimper is great. If you can't find one like mine, fishing supply stores have them to crimp swagers for fishermen that make their own wire leaders for fishing hooks.
