Serial number embedded in email alerts.

I see no good reason for serial numbers to be embedded in every email alerts and my suspicious side of me tells me Hikvision did this on purpose.

Knowing this is what you need to create a new password and gain access I feel it should be spared. The device name is also embedded and by no means can a serial number be a better tool to identify a device over its name.

Unless I'm missing something.

Embedded information is bad and a possible security risk, but on the flip you would know if it's from your own NVR.

The name of the device is also embedded and can be tailored to the users liking, for example "NVR Home" Or "Building 00 NVR" which is more suitable and useful than 1401253812AARR324102354WCVU.

With the name embedded directly above the serial in each email, I see no good reason to justify serial embedding, a number that is used to provide administrative access.

In fact that's all the information needed to reset the defaults by Hikvision.
