Selecting "Audio" Tab In Blue Iris Options windows causes BI to crash

Hey folks....

I've been meaning to get some audio going on my BI setup, so finally started the project this weekend. But when I was ready to test it, I was asked to setup my microphone in the Settings window. But when I clicked on the "Audio" tab, BI instantly hangs and eventually crashes and exits.

I'm running BI release 4.3.4.1 x64 on a quite beefy PC. Everything else is working super smooth...I'm not sure if it's a new version issue or not as I've not used this part of BI up until now.

Is there a crash log somewhere that I could look at? Without an error box, it's hard to know where to start looking for the problem.

Hi Beepsilver and thanks for replying to my post.

Never even looked to see what that did! I enabled the Log file and then proceeded to duplicate my crashing issue (selecting Audio tab from settings window). After BI crashed, I restarted and viewed the log. It's not much help as all is says is "Restarted after unexepected shutdown". Argh!

It must be something to do with my specific PC config, as my other BI machine (upstairs) works fine when I select the Audio tab.

Hmmmmm....not sure where to go from here!

I just emailed support about this...it's a bug for sure. When selecting BI Options > Audio, BI crashes:

I just opened options again, tried every tab EXCEPT Audio....they all worked. Then I took a chance and clicked on Audio and it didn't crash. Try that if you need to get in and make some adjustments--hopefully you'll get what you need until a fix is released.

I tried your work-around, but it's still crashing for me. I tried it a few times just to be sure. Thanks for trying...and much appreciated your confirming the error and submitting the bug. Will hopefully have a fix soon.

Did you ever get this working? I'm having this problem in 4.8.5.2

After all this time, I'm not sure it was a BI problem at all...had problems with the audio driver I was using at the time....RealPlayer was causing intermittent problems with BI for some reason. I ended up uninstalling RealPlayer and using Windows drivers. Got rid of all issues.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. It was audio driver related. Windows 10 automatically installed a driver which gave me no audio at all and caused the audio tab to crash Blue Iris. Downloading the audio driver from the motherboard manufacturers website fixed the audio playback but the audio tab still crashed. I finally found an updated version of the audio driver from the chipset manufacturer which resolved both problems.
