Rubber "O" Ring?

Do you all think it would be prudent or a reasonable idea to put one of these between the wood siding and direct camera mount? For IPC-HDBW4231F-AS Dahua 2MP Starlight Fixed Focal ).
Looks to be 1/8 inch rubber o ring, OD 4 inch.

Good caulking after you mount it will work better. At the very bottom, leave a space in the caulk for any water to drain.
