Rough Plan for New House IPCam locations.

Hi there IPCamTalk,

Long time no talk. If anyone remembers me, I kept saying I was going to buy a house soon. Well I finally did it!

The green box in bedroom 5 is my "network closet". Red dots signify a camera.

The dot in the top left corner would be a corner mounted SD49225T-HN, just because I already have the camera and figure that may be a good spot for it to overlook our pool and back yard/front yard but still deciding.

The rest of the cameras would likely be 5442's but still deciding on that as well.

I already have a doorbell camera at the front door. Unsure if 1 or 2 cameras would be best above the garage. 2 cars wide but small front yard area due to being in a cul-de-sac.

See pics below and please let me know your opinion. I am very open to suggestions but just looking to get a rough game plan so I can start ordering some new cams!

Do you have cabe pipes installed in the ground, i.e. pipes through which one can install fibre cables or copper cables, e.g. CAT6 or CAT7? The same goes for the house, from the facade, where do you route the cables?

Nope, but going to have to figure that out. Where there is a will there is a way.

I didn't have power or Ethernet in this closet but now I do. To be fair my brother is the handy one. I'm just the helper lol.

Was able to order a couple of IPC-T5442T-ZE from Empire Tech/Andy off of Amazon yesterday. Was able to drill from my garage, directly up to a shared wall between my office and network closet. Probably a bit unconventional to have Ethernet on my garage ceiling, but good enough for me ! Feel free to share any thoughts, criticism, etc.




Default settings, screenshot from UI3. Have not tested anything yet or adjusted anything. Too tired from the install . Two cameras above my garage is probably overkill for my tiny front yard but bet no one will be messing with our vehicles (never had a problem, but fingers crossed ).

For sure, my garage is about a foot short to fit my truck in it or else I would definitely park in the garage. My wife treats her car rough and she doesn't care about dings, scuffs, scrapes, scratches, on her car so naturally she doesn't care to park in the garage.

Hmm, I think I'd rather my cams stick out a bit, rather than blend in. I'm more concerned with adding more cams now. Need at least a couple in the back ASAP. But we'll see what happens.

Looks good, remember a little silicone caulk "n" shaped bead between the cameras and siding .. just want to keep water out of the back of the camera / wall area..

Nope, but going to have to figure that out. Where there is a will there is a way.

I had a similar shelving unit, under more load than the drywall could hold up, and it failed.

Ended up putting a Furring strip of wood from stud to stud up on the side to hold the "end caps" - worked very well.

Just a note here based on my experience, ..

I had a similar shelving unit fail under load .. ended up screwing into the 2 nearest studs a section of furring wood strip under the plastic "shelving caps / holder".

imho that's what I would do to 100% keep that end from failing to hold up.

Good idea! Just into the drywall, so I will indeed likely need to do something similar or I'm almost guaranteed to have a similar failure.
