As I progress on building out my exterior Dahua/Blue Iris camera setup, I have not missed the fact that should someone get in without triggering an alert (or if I miss it), I'll have no idea what's going on. My first thought was to add a few interior cameras but I'm not sure about the WAF on that one. Costco has the $239 Ring Alarm kit in-store which is tempting. The alarm could tell me something's happening, but not what's happening without cameras.

You really think ring alarm is a nice unit ??? At 200.00 for the ring starter you can get a Honeywell for 100 more and have a real security system.

You are confused. Ring is a real security system. I have installed both, the honeywell is not any better other than an lcd on the keypad. Then you need to pay 25 dollars a month for cellular monitoring and remote control. With ring, its 100 per year or $8.30 a month. Do the math again?

oh please...you are watching too much oceans 11...can the honeywell not be jammed or 3g signal blocked? Your house is not a bank. Zwave does allow for 128bit encryption but ring as not implemented that, at least not yet. If you want to be paranoid you can go on forever.
if you want to be a sucker and pay 200 MORE PER YEAR in monitoring that is up to you. Ring is going to crush these other systems over the next few years and the scammers that install them.
EDIT: "S2 is an additional security layer for Z-Wave devices that was introduced in 2018. S2 features 128-bit encryption as well as UL 1023 compliance. Ring Alarm uses S2 security."

It’s 10.00 per month, 100 per year.. Honeywell as 10 times the hardware as ring does as of now for security. I understand the ring alarm is new to the market, we will see what ring brings to the table later in the year.

Honeywell is not any better. Only a complete sucker would pay 200 more annually for irrelevant encryption.

If you want a professional alarm system go with Texecom Premier Elite and add the smartcom.
Ring alarm kits are at best basic,
Pyronix wireless kit eat batteries.
Honeywell Galaxy is now over 20yrs old and limited by design.
