I would not put a POE switch or any other electronics in an attic. They need to be in a conditioned space.
I have had POE switches in my attic for over a decade and never had a problem. I originally had a 100 Mb/s model then upgraded to a gigabit. I did make sure both units used a metal case so it could not melt down if something went wrong. Personally I expected major issues but never encountered any. It is connected to three cameras and powers two of them. I do not have a fan running on it either. Some of these switches have an operating range that goes up to 122 F.

Is there any way to do HDR or a better WDR for night recording? I do not see how LPR will work when everything that is lit is so blown out.. like lighted license plates.

This thread is a review of a camera. Rather than blowing up this thread for something tangentially related, please either search the LPR forum or start another thread in the LPR forum.

I want to buy this camera but I am not going to if it has no WDR settings to help with the issue. Do you not comprehend that? My question CLEARLY was not about LPR it was about about WDR/HDR with this specific camera.

For future reference the parts of my paragraph that I am asking questions about end with a "?". The parts of my paragraph where I make a statement end with a "."

I hope this helps you in the future. Regards.

If you had read the first post of this thread, you would know the answers.

It depends on how lit the scene is but usually WDR is useless at night. It will lead to a grainy image with tons of motion blur if you attempt to pause the recording.

Now take you shit attitude and move on.

"Depends" and "Usually" mean further information is needed on a specific camera. If you guys are going to throw every single camera model under that bus that's cool. No reason to expect things to change. In the 20 years of using cameras analog and now IP have have seen drastic nighttime changes.

I apologize for asking a question about this specific product. I will not do it again.

I am sorry if I did not understand your post. However you never stated the cam model or anything about the cam itself. However you did mention LPR twice in the post.

This post seems to me to be very general in nature, but specifically asking about LPR.

Wow, I guess I triggered you. Hope you now have a better day. I won't bother you with answers to your issue in the future.

Since this thread was about a specific camera model review I thought it was obvious I was asking about this specific camera and the ability to handle WDR/HDR at night. But I guess not? Not only am I concerned about LPR software but I am concerned a about seeing more detail in areas blown out by light "with this specific camera". I am moving into a new house next month and I'm trying to make an intelligent purchase as my current system is staying with this house.

I even stated in another thread I was looking at buying this camera.
