I am looking for feedback comparing Windows 10 Pro vs. Windows 11 Pro and/or their different versions.

I am trying to get the most stable system for an offline (no internet) setup with 12 cameras. Most will be 4MP with one or two 2MP for LPR. AI human/vehicle detection for all. The hardware is a Dell 3630, i7-8700, 32GB, SSD, WD Purple and Quadro P2000.

Can you all tell me what YOUR EXPERIENCE was with Win 10 Pro vs. Win 11 Pro, or Win 11 23H2 vs 24H2, etc.

Also, you can provide YOUR EXPERIENCE with a particular version and your hardware, such as, "Win 11 Pro 23h2 with i7-10700, 32 GB Ram and 14 4MP cams with substream AI has worked great. Disabled auto updates, debloated and it hasn't crashed in a year."

The fact that Windows 10 won't be supported after 2025 is not a big deal to me, but I expect support for BI will go away first for Win10.

I have tried searching for this information, but only get bits and pieces, and usually people only write in when they have a problem.

As far a BI is concerned I don't see any difference between Win 10 and Win 11, I always run the Pro version of Win 11, but that has nothing to do with how BI works on it, If you want detailed differences between Win 10 Pro vs. Win 11 Pro, or Win 11 23H2 vs 24H2, etc. then I would suggest that this forum would not have the answers you are looking for (my opinion only), possibly also why you have not got any response to your question

I have used BI on Win11 Pro since its debut. No issues. I allow automatic windows update. System is very stable and reboots only as part of upgrade process.

BI is updated only when new (needed) features are stable.

These are MY experiences, your mileage may vary.

Hardware specs in signature block.

If you aren't comfortable running Windows 11, you need to get comfortable with it pretty quickly. The official end of support date for Windows 10 is just 5 months away.

It's not a matter of comfort as much as it is stability. That being said, so far my Windows 11 24h2 Pro has been very stable, though I have only used it a week.

Windows 10 and 11 are very similar is seems....

Windows is the sole reason I keep looking at other software options for my NVR.

I've been running BI for 9 years now, and nearly every instance of crashes, eratic behavior, and general high CPU use I have seen can be blamed on Windows updates. My current system allegedly cannot run 11, so it is my most sincere hope that when MS stops supporting 10, they stop pushing crappy updates that FUBAR everything - sometimes for days at a time before I notice the system just stopped recording for no apparent reason - but ALWAYS after an update.

If BI has one major Achilles Heel, it is absolutely Windows. I hate it. Want to get rid of it. I just can't find anything comparable for performance when it all works properly.

That is simple, don't update Windows and turn auto update off...

How often is the NVR operating system getting updated?

And your computer benefits from anti-virus software.

As long as you don't use the computer for anything other than BI (just like you would only use a NVR as a NVR) then the risk is minimal.

No problems for me with updates disabled. I do get pissed as heck when the upgrade to win11 nags come up, or something pops up telling me what I should search for. There's probably a way of turning this stuff off in gpedit, I just don't want to spend any more time on it. I've come to see windows as something that could be good, except they turned into a piece of consumer junk, but I guess that's what the most of their market wants. IMO there are a few "big" things that would please me with BI 6, one of which would be moving to linux as the underlying platform.
