If I want to upgrade both my drives to larger sizes, can I just swap them both and be good to go? Or does any part of the Hik config and linux system reside on the hard drives and I would lose all that and have to set it up again?

No you won’t lose your config. That stays on the firmware. Good luck!

The hard drives just store the footage and also your system logs. You will be able to swap the drives with new ones with no problem. Just remember to initialize (format) the drives. It won’t start recording until you do that.
