Possibly to convert CN cameras running hacked firmware to EN so they can be fully updated with the stock EN firmware.

It depends what was done to the cameras. The method works OK and has been used extensively.

I don't understand your answer.
When you look at this post

This is what happened with my cameras.

Yes, updating a CN camera with stock EN firmware will brick it, unless the BrickfixV2 method is used to convert the camera to EN. After which updates can be applied normally.

What you need to do depends on whether your camera is a CN model and whether it's currently running hacked firmware.
As requested, what's the cameras full serial number and model number?

My model and serial number is DS-2CD2432F-IW 20150127CCCH502125217
I don't think it's a hacked firmware because i never updated it.

So, i have to convert my CN camera in EN camera. After i will be able to update the cam with the stock EN firmware.
If yes, can i do that with another method ?

Ok, so thats certainly a CN camera.
After conversion to EN the stock firmware can be used.
Back then, the CN cameras were shipped with hacked firmware. If you've never updated the camera, you'd never know.

Can i use another method to convert this cam in EN ?
The conversion requires that a couple of bytes in mtd6 be changed.
This could be done by a flash read, modify, and re-write.

But I don't understand why you can't change mtd6 by the documented method - what's the problem with doing so?

if your camera is still loading and working
the easiest way is to download and install the service firmware from this site the firmware will change the camera on its own

In case it hasn't been posted previously DS-2CD2632F-IS dev type 1098 is correct and the steps above worked perfectly! Thank you very much for your work!

Hi,
Seems like there has been lately discussion of DS-2CD3132-I with version 4.0.8 build 150401 being in recovery mode. SADP finds the camera with IP 192.168.1.64 but this is not accessable with anything. It responds to ping thou.

Some backgroud as alastairstevenson required earlyer from similar situation.
1. Got this of our customers SER trash and have no idea of the passwords as nor do they.
2. They got new ones because of them being old and not having access to them
3. No idea if they are Chinese or what

This is the state i got it, is there anything that can be done or is it a lost case? Didn't seem to find any solution to reset the situation.

This documented BrickFix method can be used for brick recovery of R0 series cameras, and conversion to EN of CN cameras.
But it's fair to say that R0 series are quite old now, and don't provide good performance compared with current models.

Aah, was to tired when typed that, sorry. Yea, i tryed that metod also, i cant get the tftp to reqognize the camera. I know they are old, i have couple never models but this would fit perfectly in my garage :D

And further stuff that i have done.
  • Firewall off
  • ip set to 192.0.0.128
  • ip set to 192.168.1.128
  • only the camera and pc in same poe switch
  • Downloaded all required stuff again in new folder
And probably alot more that i can't remember anymore

edit
Thank you alot alastairstevenson for all the work you have done for this community. Awesome that people with the skills have time to help morons like me :D

On the R0 series hardware - activating a PoE handshake and enabling the ethernet interface can take long enough that it clashes with the short time that is allowed for a tftp updater handshake to be attempted.
If you have one, maybe try a 12v adaptor to power the camera instead of the PoE switch, with the camera in a non-PoE port so that PoE power isn't featured.

Thx mate. I don't have a adaptor but i can try a poe injector if that would be faster.
