Question on new build.

Ok After listening to everyone here, I am now down to using a Pute from Ebay, instead of a NVR, with Blue Iris, but now for the big question.

I am getting a Puter, Cameras, the Cable...
What kind of switch do I need to hook it up and am I missing anything here?
I am getting the brackets and cams from Andy, gonna start with 3 cameras for now.
Not sure what all I need for the puter to work properly is why I ask.
I am gonna put in a couple Purple Wd's

Thanx for the reminder @looney2ns I forgot I need to check my cable, my son in laws neighbor worked for xfinity and when he quit he gave me his box of cat 6, I need to make sure its not cca.

I recommend a 2nd Network card for the Computer if it doesn't have two (a lot dont), it doesn't have to be anything high-end (I used a USB network adapter on a laptop for a year with no problems, but you can get what you need for $15-$20).
Just to keep it simple as possible (basically sets it up more like an NVR with BI as frontman to POE switch and cameras on a secure network segment).

Possibly, but the original thread stated this was dedicated for this job with cameras from Andy. This is a great dedicated switch for Dahua IP cams.

Also there are a lot of great videos on the POETEXAS site showing exactly how/what to hook up to what.

I'll agree it's definitely not a switch for a newbie for a mixed home environment switch(access point, xbox, TV, etc).

However a great dedicated IP cam switch. I love it because 1 the cost, 2 it can supply both A and B POE power at the same time which allows me to power a cam AND an IR light by just adding a 2nd power supply to the switch and using a POE B breakout.....totally off topic...but...how many of us put up cams..then hated dealing with spiders...then put up IR lights?
