Question: Amcrest IP3M-954E Resolution

I just bought some Amcrest IP3M-954E bullet camera. According to the spec, the resolution is 2048x1536 at 30fps. The max resolution of my camera is only 2304x1296 at 20fps. I upgraded my camera with the latest firmware and it still shows 2304x1296. Does anyone experience the same issue as mine?
 
according to spec sheet 30FPS is only available for 1080p, 3MP is limited to 20FPS.. so that accounts for that.. for the resolution discrepancy; Ive seen some features when enabled reduce other features.. much like the FPS limit you've found, might reset it to default settings and ensure you didnt enable something that prevents it.

also if your running it through a NVR that dont support that resolution it could prevent you from setting it.
 
Thanks nayr. I did reset it to the default setting and I am not using any NVR. I login to the camera directly from the browser. I had contacted Amcrest support and they remote into my PC and seeing the same issue that I mentioned. They said they will research and get back, but so far I have not gotten any answer yet.

That is correct. I am more concerned about the resolution than the frame rate. The spec resolution is 2048x1536. Mine is 2304x1296. Is this a bug in the firmware?
 
mebe, dunno.. Amcrest buys Dahua hardware then sells it rebranded.. Ive got a 3MP Dahua 4300S and it looks alot like this camera.. but I have 2048x1536

The difference is negligible...2304x1296 is 16:9 vs 4:3 n the 2048....you generally see 2304x1296 on 4mp cameras when you set it to 3mp so that it keeps the 16:9 format...
 
yeah I'd rather have the 16:9 over 4:3
 
Thanks fenderman. Now I feel a little better knowing that it's 16:9 vs 4:3 format. Amcrest should not advertise this camera as 2048x1536. I thought I was losing some resolutions. So what do you think which format (16:9 or 4:3) is better for a security camera?

it depends on what you need to capture...there resolution difference is not detectable...
