Purpose of Config1 Image Dahua NVR

Does anyone know the purpose of config1 (NVR:Settings:Image) when logged into NVR via LAN? There's greater control over focus, etc when using the browser vs NVR UI. I have two cameras dedicated for licence plate capture, but the video goes out of focus after the camera transitions from day to night, or vise versa.

I logged into the camera's directly and set a schedule for the correct exposure settings via the Day/Night profiles, but if I can't figure out this focus problem it does me no good. Does anyone have any advise? See screenshot of config1. My NVR is Dahua NVR5216-16P-4KS2.

I just don't understand the purpose of setting multiple image configurations if the settings won't hold. And I have yet to find a way to set different configurations to run on a schedule, etc.
