Having horrible tracking issues with this PTZ.

Any suggestions? I had a 6 series there for 4 years that had AWESOME tracking, but with the 1/2,8" sensor it just really began to suck in low light (and I think weather may have gotten to it)

The image on this PTZ5A4M-25X / SD5A425GA-HNR is far superior with the 1/1.8" sensor, but if it can't track better than this, it doesn't really matter

FW V3.200.0000018.2.R, Build Date: 2024-06-17

Distances:
Middle of culdesac 60ft
Driveway on left 125ft
Couple walking away 300-400ft

I saw that. Can’t hurt to try it. :thumb:

I’m still slightly concerned about which model this is.

Or

Those are just some samples I had snagged. It’s well over 50% of all tracks.
The only ones that are sorta ok are the ones within about 40-50 ft

Is your overall tracking as bad as mine?

What FW are you running if I may ask?

thx

I doubt it will make a difference for this specific problem but I’ve switched all my cameras to intrusion instead of tripwire. That, along with setting a minimum target size that’s larger than a cat I am 100% confident if I get a notification it’s a person, as well as I’m sure they never miss anybody.

Back to this specific problem and camera I would think “Tracking Target Size Ratio” could have an effect on it. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll get around to setting up Auto Tracking and see if I have the same issue. Right now it’s just parked on the backyard unless I want to look around.

I have another internal Dahua presentation with lots of new stuff..

And it looks like there is AutoTracking 4.0 - called now WizTracking, build from ground using new AI large models..

It should help with problematic situations, when now camera is losing targets...

Minus - it will be available only in new PTZ (new lines -MA and -MB, which replaces actual -GA / -GB)..
First models are released a few days ago, latest screen shots contains models details...

PS. 5x59-PRO is not released yet (firmware delays), but there is info that there will be 7 series 7x59 based on the same tech..

Been through all of this.
For instance on the tracking size, on every other PTZ I've fooled with (lets say 10) from the cheap mini-PTZ to $2000 6 series, the tracking size has always been best between say 30-40max.

Also, the auto zoom on a target has been consistent. whatever the delay stepping up zoom (typically 3 steps for targets at distance) its been consistent. Like first 5X, then 13X and then max zoom to fit the subject in the frame.

For this one, there's no rhyme or reason. It will stay zoomed out on an obvious human target, until a trash can appears in scene and then zoom into the trash can and lose the original target.

I just swapped my mini-PTZ out for one of these and have been less than impressed with the tracking and overall settings, with most of the same sentiments as you.

Mini-PTZ was 32-34 on ratio. With the new one, it makes no sense (Left FOV is 36, right call-to FOV is 60). It will start OK, then as the subject walks down the sidewalk, getting further away, it will zoom OUT. It is also nowhere near as smooth with the tracking as the mini was. It's almost as if it moves, stops, moves, stops and doesn't fluidly track the person or keep them in the middle of the FOV. It seems to do better with slightly faster moving targets and struggles with the slower ones.

Night focus has also been less than stellar.
