Has anyone else played with PTZ linkage? This seems to be very good extra when you have a PTZ camera added to a system. When camera 1 tripwire trips, PTZ linkage commands PTZ camera to turn to preset 5, which points to the area near camera 1.

This is good as long there is no tracking on the PTZ camera. After PTZ linkage command, the PTZ camera turns beautifully to right preset, starts tracking, BUT because tripwire in camera 1 again trips, PTZ linkage command goes and PTZ camera stops tracking and turns again to preset 5.

There seems not be yet an option "ptz linkage disabled during tracking" in PTZ. This should solve the problem. Other thing could be a delay in camera 1 IVS settings, so that once it trips, next one is possible only after 30sec (or whatever the tracking time in PTZ is set to). But there is no such a setting in IVS.

One way is also to do different kind of tripwires/intrusion zones in camera 1, so that predicted movement could trip only once. Sometimes works, sometimes not..

Yep and many threads about it.

We call it spotter cams.

And yes we have talked about that limitation you point out. That can be overcome with BI, but regardless of which system is used, it isn't perfect. It is why we say a PTZ is a good compliment to an existing fixed lens system, but relying on a PTZ, even with spotter cams, will miss key stuff.

Typically can be overcome by using a directional tripwire on the Spotter cam, that and placement. It can take some noodling
