If I set up a PTZ camera looking over the front of my property. Does that mean I can zoom in different directions when reviewing recordings or does it only work if you are viewing live?

A single lens PTZ will only record what you see on screen at the time of recording so if you have zoomed in that will also be recorded.
I think I will probably just use a normal camera like one of the bullet cameras I have. They have a pretty good wide angled view.
