Poe switch in roof space

just looking at how to install Poe switch & cabling for easiest/best results.

I was thinking to have each camera cat6 cable terminate into a single Poe switch in the roof space and then have one cable from the Poe switch connect through a wall plate to my bi pc. Is this the preferred installation method?

The other question I have is the operating temps for the Poe switch. In my city the temps are quite extreme - anywhere up to 45 degrees Celsius in summer and down to -10 in winter. Given that roof space temps will be even more extreme would a Poe switch be able to handle these temps? If not what would be the next best install method?

Not a good idea @Azman if your attic has extreme temps / humidity.

The best install is all "home run" cables from each camera to the central equipment location in a climate-controlled space.

That said, in reality, I think a lot of home installations are not of the best variety. I'm using a switch in a non-climate controlled garage. It would be rare for us to hit 45C ambient but upper 30s isn't terribly uncommon in summer. Perhaps not as bad as attic space but the heat does go above ambient in there too. In the winter on the other hand, -25 to -30C or sometimes even colder isn't too uncommon.

I had a Netgear switch out there and had no problems during the cold, but it had not been out there in the summer. Just two days ago I replaced it with this BV "industrial" switch. https://www.amazon.com/BV-Tech-Industrial-Switch-Gigabit-Ethernet/dp/B075FZQX14

It lists a pretty wide operating range for temp and humidity. I question how "industrial" it can be for $70 USD but none the less I'm going to use it. Benefit for me is it also facilitates a fiber link between the garage and house for electrical isolation.

Thanks guys, I think I will run all the cables back to the room that has the BI PC and install the POE switch there just to be safe.

I’m planning on putting my Poe switch and BI server in my loft, am worried that in summer it can get hot but I’ll see how it performs and move the BI server if need be.

TBH I have my POE switch in my attic above my garage. I live in FL and it gets hot AF up there. Its been up there now for 4 years and hasn't failed me yet. Its just a cheap Amcrest 8 port POE switch. I have also installed for customers the same way (POE switch in attic) and I haven't had a single fail in 2 years and I have about 6 installed this way. This is the switch I used:
