No. first time after 1 year of installed. going to install a Acusense Camera outside with audio warning.

First and foremost should be a loud audible
alarm ideally with a flashing light. The audible alarm automatically sends a notice to the burglar that he has less than 1 minute until the police or key holder is called. At that point the burglar debates if it's even worth while to enter or remain on the property for the haul. I'd say 70% of the time the burglar says fuck it and takes off knowing the police could be potentially on the way.
You could also tell the video the kid was less than concerned about your cams. You can even see he looks up at your front camera without hesitation. Hes masked up and gloved up and with that he knows the cameras aren't going to identify him and he isnt going to leave finger prints behind.
The only real concern he should have (since you didnt have an actual alarm) would have been being cut by the broken glass and leaving his DNA / blood behind.
You're lucky this kid was an amateur and broke the smallest window. If he was a true hardcore burglar he wouldn't have wasted valuable time keeping a look out and he would have broken the front glass door or front picture window in 3 seconds. He also wouldn't have wasted 90 seconds inside. He would have looked in through your front window, seen the open and empty cash drawer and would have moved on to the next potential target.
Please install a motion sensing alarm with a loud audible siren. It well worth the peace of mind.

Totally agree, a glass break would have been very nice in this situation.
And have a decent alarm company and very short "phone tree" for them to go through before calling the police. I understand wanting to avoid false police calls, but if the PD is dispatched to an alarm that tripped 10-15 minutes ago the chance the burglar is still there is very slim.

Alarms help, period. This can be seen in video after video. Even if they know the police wont respond, they may assume that the owner will. No one is sticking around taking their time with an alarm ringing. They are so freaking cheap, it is silly not to have a basic system installed.
Agreed! Very first thing I did when we bought our house, after changing all the locks, was install an alarm. Super loud siren and strobe lights out front.

The guy dressed like he's about to perform a heist of the Mona Lisa. I'm still puzzled as to what does a restaurant have that's worth burglarizing, especially at 4 am.
My guess is that the thief knew about something valuable being kept at the establishment. This also leads me to believe that he's probably somebody you know or has dined at the restaurant many times before.

It's about prevention and protection not apprehension. It's the idea of being caught by the police that scares the bad guys away. Prevent him from breaking into your shop with a loud audible alarm that will garnish attention.
Do you suggest him not to cover up from head to toe in order to prevent being identified?
And conducting a burglary ar 4am is probably the smartest time to do it. The place is empty, the general public is sleeping and so are the cops probably.
Also based upon his frantic searching movements behind the counter tells me he has no clue what he was looking for and once finding the cash drawer empty he started grasping at straws finding anything valuable to steal.

Two 120db sirens in that small space may have made him think twice about sticking around.
