What is my best camera option for identifying. The room is 10x12 with regular height ceiling. The room is well it with florescent lighting. I am looking to use the starlight varifocal for the rest of the restaurant but will need something different for this room i believe.

Hi @grendel54

A 2MP camera with a 90 degree view should do well to cover much of that area at 100 ppf for ID purposes.

If you have enough light, even a 4-5MP camera could do well.

For indoors when I want a smaller camera I like the mini-dome wedge models.
Otherwise I like the Turret models in general.

ID spec distance and associated area max covered calculations ( 100ppf+ ):
Dahua IPC-HDW4231EM-AS starlight fixed lens 1080p 1920x1080
  1. w/2.8mm lens FOV H 110 degrees: 10 feet { area covered 95.94 sq feet covered }
  2. w/3.6mm lens FOV H 87 degrees: 12.65 feet { 121.43 sq feet covered }
  3. w/6mm lens FOV H 51 degrees: 21.58 feet { 207.16 sq feet covered }

A 8MP "4K" camera will get about 2x the ID distance, a 4MP camera with the same aspect ratio will get about 1.5x
