Looking back at Philip's post on "Fist Snow Fall" :D

Probably to most Canadians that is barely a dusting.

This is what I call a dusting and most likely will disappear in a few days.

"Dusting" is a relative term, and depends if you're an Alaskan, Canadian, or where in the US you might live. I've lived in Buffalo, NY and Seattle, Wa.

In Buffalo, if people were concerned about snow in the forecast, it meant 4+ inches were coming. An inconvenience.
In Seattle, if forecast said 1+ inches, the news would interrupt regular programming with "Weather Alerts".
Schools would close based on a "forecast".
(and sometimes, kids got a snow day when no snow actually fell!)

I enjoy the "relative" aspect of how people talk about snow, since I've lived in different climes. Granted, the pic below isn't a "dusting", back in Buffalo, NY in '77

There's another thread on snow at:
First time I've ever seen snow falling!
Good pics, and perspectives on "dusting"....

All:
I apologize, I went on a nostalgia trip thinking of "Blizzard of '77".
Maybe I'll go buy a new snow shovel. If stores even carry 'em.
In Seattle, my 25 YO snow shovel feels ignored, and she's getting rusty from lack of use.
