no sound with BI service running

I can hear sound just fine when it's running without BI service in console mode only. Once I run as a BI service, then open console, sound is gone.

Anyone has any ideas?
 
I have a VPN set up and I'm using window remote desktop to view BI on the server. I can hear sound just fine with my cell phone BI app, and I can hear all other sounds from server (youtube, for example).

Once I run the BI on the server in console only mode, sound comes right back.

this is a thread discussing this issue with respect to windows rdp..
