Just installed my IPC-HDW5231R-ZE that I got from @EMPIRETECANDY

I am liking the clarity of the night video/stills of my backyard. But am stumped.

I seem to have some sort of glare/spot only at night. The spot is there right till the video changes to colour mode.

During the day it is not present in video or still shot.

I've cleaned the lens, thinking something got on it.
Is this something within the camera? Could one of the IR lights be misaligned?

It looks like there is some light bulbs on that wire crossing your garden? I see a "bright" spot in the upper right quadrant.

What you could do, is position some carton/paper, to see whether this "circle" is effectively coming from the camera itself, or from some other source. If it would have been a "spot" on the dome, by cleaning it, it should disappear; However it is "dust" on the sensor, that's another story. The reason why you don't see it in daylight is because colors and lightning are very different. You could try to run in B&W during the day, if the circle's back, it is the sensor I guess.

Yes, that is a racoon.
No lights on that wire, it is my cable line that runs from a pole to my home.
That light in the far distance is a street light.

I will set it to B&W and see what happens.

Just put the camera in full B&W mode and the spot is not there.

I was gonna say a reflection from that streetlight, but if gone in B&W without IR, its gotta be IR reflecting off of something

It is normal to get a bit of reflection or lens flare if there is a bright light source or bright reflection within (or even just near) the camera's field of view.

Here's an example from the 4MP Starlight+ which I put up a couple days ago. On the right edge of the scene there is a big PTZ camera with its bright focused IR LEDs pointing left, and it has created visual artifacts in several places on this view:



As suggested by @IAmATeaf you can hunt down the cause of your light spot by moving the camera around a bit (bring your phone so you can live view in realtime. Once you find the problematic light or reflective object, you can figure out how to eliminate it or block view of it from your camera's lens.

I will give this a shot another night, as the weather is not cooperating tonight.
I did zoon in and the spot become outta sight/range. but the resulting frame is too tight for what I am trying to achieve.

But in the middle of the day, the street light is off, so i'm not sure if IR is the cause. Will know when I can move the lens around a bit.

I have the same issue same camera, my spot moves and definately lights up the area in the spot.

Update... Feel like an ID10T

Had a chance to check out the camera last night, started moving it and noticed that the spot moved with the camera.
I thought, maybe dust got inside when I put the SD Card in?? Gave the lens another clean with a fresh towel and voila the spot is gone.
I'm pretty sure I had done that already. Anyway Good to know that spot was on the outer glass and not inside.
