It's kind of a Ford vs, Chevy thing there, IMO. Many swear by Seagate, I've bought & installed several hundred WD Blues & Blacks and probably 50 Purples over the years and have had only 1 out-of-the-box issue, which WD swapped out via the vendor, newegg. So for me, it's WD Purple.
I have them both installed in NAS boxes, often in the same box and the Seagates run 3-4 degrees cooler but still nothing significant. When looking around online, I do tend to see more complaints about failures with Seagates than I do with the WDs. But then Seagates are often a few dollars cheaper from what I've seen. Boys thanks. For me in Australia, its the same price. I will go purple. Size is easy. I can only go 6 due to being limited by nvr.
