New shed, its 12x16 with a 5ft porch, so the roof is 17x16

One camera will be under the porch to cover the window and 32 inch entry door, and one camera will cover the 4ft roll up door on the side. I already have a T54IR-ZE probably for the roll up door side, any suggestions on something for the porch? Or just another T54IR-ZE?

Current camera view isn't great

I have 300ft of OS2 fiber that will be trenched to the shed for networking, and a Brocade ICX 7150-C12P switch, and a Ruckus R550 AP. Also trenched is 60a power, and 120v UPS power from the garage

I would think an AS or ZE would be sufficient.

I was going to suggest another, looking back at the house, but BACK YARD shows that if you can't see the shed, the shed can't see the house.

They're pretty lenient with setbacks there, aren't they? Here in our town, we have a minimum 10-foot setback from the back of the property line for a utility easement and at least 6 feet off the side of the property line. Wouldn't be so bad, but we have septic and an inground pool which occupies a lot of real estate.

And I forgot, since we are a corner lot, our one side has a 25-foot setback from the property line. Something with sightlines for traffic. Really cuts a lot useable space from our 1/4 acre property.

I presume the 3449 has both IR and warm white LEDs? Correct me if I am wrong, but it looks like it is set up to switch to color and white light on event trip? I guess it will switch back within a set preset time when no motion is detected? If so, that's a pretty cool feature and well worth the price of admission

Oh, and the image looks good as well. I think you mentioned it, but if you look closely, the image is a tiny bit noisy, I guess it's either the sensor or the firmware?

Yes yes and yes

The noise seems to be a result of the new SOC. Supposedly it’s something they can improve in FW. I’m not smart enough to know but it’s so slight as to be a non issue to me in this scene

Wow, that is good quality! One of those for the porch might be good

5ft for a structure like this, at least I'm pretty sure!

There is a 5ft utility easement in the back, which I'm out of

I need to go back and spend some time on the night color. I'll try and do that tonight.

Honestly, the actual image quality is better on the 5442 AS, BUT in B&W/IR I think the light pickup is so much better on the 3449 Pro as to be overall superior.

The big IQ difference is when you get to color night image. There is a digital noise present that I dont see on the 5442. But the 5442 TAKES more light to run in color.

So some tradeoffs as has been discussed.

I just think with the detached shed, I'd like the option of the instant on White LEDs. (you dont have to use them its fully adjustable to what you want)

Yep, forgot about the two way talk. It works like you expect/want it to with the DMSS app

ONE MORE THING!

Supposedly the close focus distance per spec is as much as 11ft on the 3.6mm

Thats not my experience. It appears to be about 5-6ft which is similar to the 5442 AS which is 5ft

For example the camera in my video is mounted 7.5ft from the middle of the door and 9.5ft from the chair

It definitely looks great. The only reason I noticed the slight noise is because you mentioned it in another thread. I likely would have never noticed if you didn't point it out.

Wish ours was only 5 feet in the utility easement. I could have added 90 square feet to my shed I built. It's cramped in my shed currently; would be nice to have more room.

Its a legitimate criticism. Both myself and @steve1225 called it out early on.

He knows more than I do about the technology, but I don't think its the sensor per se, its the SOC and technology theyre using to process the image

Well, I just ordered one from Andy to test out. My plan is to test it in the driveway location on one side to get an idea. If it works out, I'll replace the other side of the driveway.

By the way, @IReallyLikePizza2, Andy has them for $152 plus you'll save the tax that Amazon will charge you

I'm betting the noise will be an even bigger factor on the new VF models
