After lurking around here for a bit, I've started my security system build. I re-purposing one of my PCs to host Blue Iris, and have so far purchased 2 IPC-HDW2231R-ZS cameras. I have been playing around with them on an evaluation of Blue Iris, and they seem like they work well for my application.
I have a few questions:
1) My front door is an alcove, with a ceiling of 11' high. I think the IPC-HDW2231R mounted at that height will provide me a nice view of bald spots and hat tops. Is there a smaller camera (of similar quality) that I could mount lower (on wall). Ideally it would be mounted to also to record people coming up walkway.
2) For my garage (2-car width garage door, next to a 1-car width door), I was planning on mounting one camera on each corner (mounted under soffit). There are lights mounted here. Is it OK to mount a camera above lighting (the soffit is about 2 foot above the light).
Thanks!
