I have this book with this IP camera walking (New 4MP DS-2CD3145F-IS multi-language)
and what a nice surprise it new firmware V5.3.6 Build 151103
here.
If you have any information to be able to edit the firmware ... I'm looking.

Recently bought 2x DS-2CD2042WD-I and one of the camera came with firmware V5.3.6_151105 pre-installed unfortunately can't find it anywhere to download.

Sorry I have mixed it up.

One of my new cameras came with V5.3.8_151224 pre-installed (DS-2CD2042WD-I 6mm) but I can't seems to find it anywhere yet.

The newest one I can see is:

V5.3.6 build 151105

I think your right.

If you buy from aliexpress, most of the cam's have a multilanguage menu which is best left alone.

Trying to update will probably brick your cam and there is no way to fix it.

AFAIK there's no solution for the camera's with fimware v5.3.6 and up.
