I set out to put together a mobile camera unit that I could film everything from wildlife, real estate to local sporting events.

I wanted a telescoping PTZ that I could use year round to include cold weather. I live in upstate NY so it can get pretty cold here.
Most mast are pneumatic with electric winches, but after looking into these I found out they can be troublesome in cold weather, not to mention the price was between $8000-15000 for mast, compressor and winch.
So I decided on a manual crank mast that can be used year round, so I ordered one from China.

4MP Dahua PTZ, 5208-k4s2 with a NKB 3000 controller
1.9 meters lowered and 5.8 extended.

This is what I came up with so far.

Very nice. thanx for sharing! I like the receiver mount.
Does it wobble there at all? About how much does the whole setup weigh?

It did have a bad wobble so I put some jam nuts on it and
it is pretty heavy - about 160-200lbs.

How much did the entire install set you back?
Even with it lowered, isn't it a problem with handling the truck, especially when turning?

I would say about 5-5.5k for mast, camera, nvr w/ hdd, controller, mount with powder coat, inverter and new battery.
But.. I just bought a different camera to go on it, a 8MP vehicle PTZ.

It does not really effect the handling when driving except when I backed into my trash can. ;)
