I've been reading about this mini NVR in another forum, but haven't really seen anything about it on here. What do you think about this product?

I am interested in getting Hikvision cameras and need a reasonably priced NVR to connect them to. What do you recommend?

I would also like to be able to view the cameras remotely and have it be secure. Is that an easy process?

I don't mind if there are several steps involved, but I would like to be able to follow step by step instructions.

Thank you.

There is a long thread about this unit at cctvforum...the thread is way to long for me to read...Note that there is a newer version of this unit that has a slot for a 2.5inch drive...
As far as remote viewing, the most secure way of implementing that is using a VPN...most folks just port forward the NVR which is not very secure but is not a huge issue if your cameras are outdoors and you take some reasonable precautions like checking the log, changing the ports from the defaults and updating firmware.

Hi

Went through that thread last December since I was also looking for a cheapo nvr solution. As far as I know Hikvision cams are not full supported feature-wise(yet). And by the looks of it, the whole thing is not fully developed yet (too much headache for my taste).
Here's the thread and here's the main developer and their Ali store. Somewhere there it says they only support their own camera.

I ended up using an old laptop for pc nvr and now also testing a nas for remote recording and redundancy.

Hope this helps.
