So I have a IPC-HDBW4231F-AS in my living room and the darn thing wants to stay in black and white mode most of the time. Even when I have the lights in the living room and hallway on it stays in black and white.
I currently have shutter speed set to a customized range of 0-17ms, gain 50, and 3D NR grade 30. I'm pretty sure I had the same thing happen on Auto Exposure. I can test this again to confirm.
Day & Night is set to Auto, High, 2s.
I run one profile 24X7, the day profile if that matters.
Here it is with the lights on in auto . I have 2 X 14w 5000K bulbs in the ceiling fan and also a 5000K bulb in the hallway. Heck even our little Christmas tree is on.

Here it is when I force it into color mode. Seems plenty bright to me.
Do you think the way the camera is hitting the wall is throwing off the exposure? I put it in the same place as my old camera as to try to cover up the mouting holes. I even moved it a tad bit away from the wall. Honestly I wish the camera would Pan/Tilt more.
Don't laugh too much as I don't have the wires run properly through the walls. It looks kind of ghetto but that's OK. When I get my own house I am going to have everything run properly. A lot of people in my neighborhood don't even have internet so I opted not to run the cables properly in the wall.
Here is a snapshot of when all the lights are off? You think my IR reflection or whatever is throwing off the exposure too much? Should I move the camera. I kind of don' want to since I put 4 good size holes in the wall already in this spot since I used those plastic anchor things. Should I try covering one side of the lens cover with black tape?
The camera will actually go into color mode from around 2PM to 5PM with light coming in from the window.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
