Just wondering if anyone else has had issues with LTS (rebranded Hikvision) NVRs refusing to function without a static IP.

LTS has their own version of SADP called Platinum portal. The NVR works just fine when the portal is used to set a static IP. If I try to set it to DHCP (either via the portal or via the web interface) the device shows a .169 final octet (read: DHCP cannot be assigned).

Network is Ubiquiti Unifi. It currently has 31 client devices on it--including the prior generation LTS NVR which the new unit is slated to replace—all successfully receiving IPs via DHCP.

LTS support was less than helpful—and that is being kind. “Get a new router” is what they told me. Really? Yes, we will tell all of our enterprise customers to get new network infrastructure because one <$300 device does not work.

Any suggestions and/or insight would be greatly appreciated.

What model number NVR are you using and what firmware version is on it?

Lewic,

Thanks for the reply.

Model: LTN8716K-P16
Firmware Version: V4.21.005 build 191210

It shipped with this firmware, which is a later version than the one LTS shows as current (LTS downloads shows NVRK_V3.4.96_180912 as latest).

The issue is with the firmware. GUI 4.0 has bugs that includes issues with POE overload, freezing, rebooting and no resources. The fix for it is to downgrade the firmware to the 3.4.96 build 180912. After downgrading then make sure the unit is defaulted and start from scratch.

Thanks a ton. Really appreciate it.

Does 3.4.96 still require the plugins (e.g. tied to IE)? Or is version 4 the first to support HTML 5?

3.4.96 will still require plugins. GUI 4.0 will use plug in also unless you have a firmware 4.1.65 and up. That firmware and any after that will have support for other browsers since it is not using the NPAPI. You can always use the client software. That may be easier if trying to liveview, playback, and configuration.

Here is a list showing what works and what doesn't with other browsers. IE will be able to see everything. Other browsers will have limitations.

Thanks again for the detailed reply. It's absolutely maddening that they are still not clear of NPAPI so many years after its deprecation. Almost makes me want to think of BI or some other NAS/PC based solution.

With ColorVU, the cameras are really on point now. The storage/management options really need to catch up.

Once again, I am really appreciative for the help.
