It is my understanding lower megapixel cams tend to perform better at night than higher megapixel cams. Does anybody have comparison images or a link showing the difference in 2 similar cams at night? I would like to see how the images compare. My 2MP Dahua Starlight cams are killer at night, but I would like to see a 8MP for example.

Not always, but that is the general rule of thumb.

I do remember some people have compared different-MP Dahua cameras side-by-side at night but I don't have links.

Take a look here, 2MP VS 8 MP, sorry, only static images ... :)
Cheers,
jonatha
It is important to note that those images are not representative of how 8mp would look in a standard environment with less lighting, less reflective surfaces and a deeper field of view...
It would look more like this...
