Looking for a loud remote controlled siren I can put out in the yard. It would be used to scare kids out of the yard if I notice them on my cameras. I wouldn't use it that often, just once in a while and only when I press a button.

Kinda looking for something like this only much louder and more reliable. CPVAN makes one too but it costs less.

Or...maybe I could get 4 of these and press the buttons at the same time. hmm. Anyone else on the forum that has a remote controlled siren they are using?

I think it would be pretty funny occasionally watching people jump unexpectedly when hearing a loud siren. Plus I'm tired of kids trespassing in my yard all the time and I can't get a fence for a few more months.

that looks like a junk toy...
if you have a camera with audio out you can attached a strong amp and speaker and yell whatever you like right from your phone.

You'd likely have to make a better siren remote controlled yourself, but I don't think it's a good idea. It would just set you up for a noise complaint and train your neighbors to ignore your real alarm system especially if you go for the loudest possible siren. Audio out of a speaker or a security strobe light would be my choice. Turning on your sprinklers briefly is also effective.
 
Use a k5la train horn hooked up to 12v solenoid.

But again best not to annoy neighbours.

A sprinkler system would be ideal. Any sprinkler with again a 12v solenoid would work.

If a speaker is really needed why not a more suttle “event triggered recording started” or similar not to annoy your neighbours but just so people on your lawn can hear.

From THIS neighbor....thanks for that last suggestion / warning of "...best not to annoy neighbours", because if any train horn or the like were to be deployed in my neighborhood, it would be ME calling the cops and the complaint would be against the owner / operator of the @#$% train horn!

The train horn was actually my first thought. I wanted to put one of those in my car to disuade people cutting me off right in front of me while driving. The huge air compressor requirement was a setback as well as the cost and installation headaches so I never did it. But I have wanted to for years. I've watched some of the videos of people starteling unwitting persons and it is pretty funny.

But I also get that in a car it's a little more anonymous but in a neighborhood I could see more people calling in complaints.

I wish I could just zap the intruders with a lazer beam that makes them disappear from this planet. Maybe someday that could be an option. :)
 
I have a k5la and p5 on my ute. 3 air tanks 4 compressors (viair 444c’s) and 3 solenoids (2 electric and 1 manual)

In a normal city down. 750m2 blocks 2 story 3-4bed houses ect range on the k5 is 3km (2milesish) at 200psi p5 would be less. It’s effective but over kill.

I don’t think you would need a loud siren to scare off people. Any siren sound would scare of kids. Hell even if you called police a few times and said your “neighbours” alarm system went off said you saw 3 kids on the premises. Soon the kids would learn that police would be called

Wow. And I thought one air tank would be a hassle. Couldn't imagine 3. Sounds pretty cool though. It would surely help with road rage situations and also help with being in a good mood. I have read stories of people who purchased train horns and have never had more fun. Sounds like it could be a blast. But does the thrill eventually wear off, or is it still just as fun as the day you had it installed?

What's wrong with you? What are you...ten years old? I'll say this.....you want to see something funny? Just wait until you see what happens to the guy who comes up by or behind me and pulls the chain on a k51a...yeah, talk about funny.

I mean by helping alievieting the rage that is experienced by someone cutting you off within 2 or 3 feet of your vehicle. For some people, when that happens to you, it can cause a person to go into a fit of rage and then start chasing the car who cut you off, or worse.

But, if you have a train horn, you can just blast it, and that way, the bastards who cut you off get freaked out, which they should, because they should know better than to cut people off so closely and thus causing the rage to begin with, and also potentially causing a serious accident with the cut off.

So the train horn comes in and not only scares the hell out of the cut off perps, but it also makes the train horn user laugh with a good dose of humor to the funny bone which helps with the rage that was just experienced from the cutoff.

And yes, the mood that is helped is the train horn users mood as just described.

No, I am not 10 years old, but I have a fantastic sense of humor which knows no bounds, similar to the folks at hornblasters.com I would imagine.

Agreed, there is a fine line between humor and pain. It is very easy to go over the line and that's when intended jokes become tragedies. Happens all the time unfortunately. It's a risk that most humor seekers have to balance. There are many comedians that can't even tell certain jokes because they could offend someone in the audience who could become extremely pissed off and have real issues with the jokes, possibly even shoot up the place depending on the city. Difficult to anticipate that however. fine line indeed, and moving vehicles add danger. It would be best to wait until the cutoff perp comes to a stoplight or stop sign versus while moving if that can be accomplished.

The people in the train horn videos seem to be getting the timing just right, but also, they aren't using them to alleiviet rage as much as they are just trying to make people laugh with the horns. (and upsetting a few people). But the majority of the people in the videos seem to get the humor that was intended.

There is also a flipside to the train horn, again, unfortunately.

That's actually one of the other reasons I've never purchased one because I know how dangerous they can be. They could even potentially be more dangerous than a gun, crossbow, axe, flamethrower, or even a harpoon.

Yep, they were breaking the law in CA. That was in Fresno. I lived in Santa Clara County, CA for 29 years working in the roadway on traffic signals for municipal governments. I became familiar (not an expert) with the state's Motor Vehicle Code because of what people would do to destroy, deface, vandalize, or render inoperable traffic signal devices and equipment.

Here's an excerpt from the Vehicle Code regarding horns:

I totally agree. What the car driver did is inexcusable. But in the video, the reported said that cyclist said, in so many words, "..after he brake-checked me, I tried to get him to pull over".

For what reason? To exchange niceties? And what was he saying to the car driver while pumping his fist? I guess we'll never know.

In NO WAY am I condoning what the car driver did to the cyclist but the cyclist may very well have escalated the incident.

I can't imagine myself riding a horse along side someone riding an elephant and telling them "pull over so I can kick your ass".
