Live video looks different to recorded clips?

I've just noticed this, no idea if its been a problem for a while

I have a camera in a very dark spot, and on the recorded clip you can see more than in the live view. Here is a snapshot taken from the live video, and then one from the recording. Any idea what's going on?

How does the live view from the camera's web interface compare to the two images you just posted

Are you using hardware decode? I found software decode makes my image look washed out.

The lighter image is actually desired, you can see a lot more

I'm using QuickSync, but since the camera UI matches the recorded footage, I think it must just be some weird BI stuff
