Limiting Recording Time on a Dahua NVR to 48 Hours

Hi,
the reason is that the recording time is legally not allowed to exceed 48 hours. Records are only allowed to be stored for 48 hours, after that they must be deleted. This is due to the data protection law here in Germany...
So is there a way to configure a recording time limi on a Dahua NVR?

With constant bitrate set, a small enough hard drive would achieve your goal.
Set your cams to CBR, wipe the drive, let it run for 48 hours and then check the disk usage. That is the size drive you need.

This is basically what I did. I calculated the estimated disc space.

This is a DAMN good question, Its something new everyday, I bet some clever person could figure out scripting perhaps not through the NVR but be able to push something through third party or SmartPSS, its not my bright spot but I know people have done things like this before.
Try this:
Go to Setting/System/Auto Maintain/Auto Delete Old Files, and set to 2 days.
Nice Catch Jack, I have seen that 100 times and never gave it a thought. I have never had a need to use it but hey now if i ever do at least we know what its for.
On my Dahua DHI-NVR2116HS-I there is no that option. I have the latest firmware 4.01. How to limit recording time?
